27th May 2024, Belated farm updates!

As you all know we have had a huge amount of rain over a short period of time.
544mm over 8 weeks which is almost half the years annual rainfall in 2 months.
Our farm is a beautiful loamy soil and usually after heavy rain it drains off very quickly meaning the veggies aren’t affected.
Because we’ve had SO much rain in such a short period the topsoil and subsoil have been completely saturated meaning when we continued to get rain the water has had no where to go and it took days for the water to slowly absorb into the soil.
When vegetables sit with their roots in water for 24/48hrs they either give up and die OR it dramatically slows their growth. Which is what has happened at our farm twice over the past month.
Although the last rain we received was 7 days ago it is only JUST dry enough today to plant into the soil again leaving us continually behind on planting.
Because of the losses we’ve had in the garden we have decided to take a small step back and put a pause to the Farm Stall and the Market for the month of June and July.
We absolutely love bringing you the best possible veggies we can and we won’t be able to do that for the next month without putting too much pressure on the garden and ourselves.
Let’s hope for more sunny, dry days ☀️
