So many things are a happening on the farm at the moment, lots of exciting things but also a few let downs.
The summer crops are slowly coming on through all this rain and the winter veg is slowly disappearing from the farm.
We harvested our very first cucumber off the farm today which we very quickly ate if everything goes well they will be in boxes next week!
We also picked the largest beetroot we’ve ever laid eyes on!
If your wondering what’s happened to our zucchini’s that have disappeared from our story, we unfortunately have lost the last 3 flushes due to inadequate pollination. This is because the European honey bees have been euthanised in our area to try and stop the spread of the Varroa Mite.
We’ve been feeling pretty bummed about it but they are starting to look better now as other pollinators has started to find them. We’ve decided for our next successions we will plant flowers at each end to hopefully attract more pollinators.
We will also be hand pollinating the flowers a few times a week to make sure we get a good crop
We’ve been abit slow off the mark with the Basil but it’s finally going in this week
Overall everything is looking super lush and we can’t wait to bring you all so many summer goodies!
